On Friday and Saturday, I helped organized and attended a Quest Retreat for some 15 teenagers in the parish. Okay, so it wasn't exactly the turnout we were hoping for, but you have to start somewhere and all things considered (first weekend of Christmas break, final exams, late start on advertising, etc.), I think we did pretty well.
The thing is you really can't go wrong when you plan things like that here. Anytime you get a group of young people together for a constructive purpose - even if it's just to take a step back and examine where they are in life - it's worth the cost.
I was struck by how similar the concerns between teenagers and young adults in Belize and people of the same age group in the United States are. It turns out some things transcend borders. I think at the very least the retreatants realized that they are not facing these issues alone, and I think that is extremely important.
